Horse Hair Pottery ~ Handmade in the USA
Mary Holmes creates her pottery by applying layers of ultra refined clay to the surface of a pot then polishing that surface by hand until satin smooth. Once dry she fires the piece to 1700 degrees, cools slightly, then pulls HOT (1000 degrees)from the kiln and horse hair and feathers are applied. The horse hair and feathers carbonize into the white surface creating beautiful abstract patterns. Handmade in Belen, NM
